hey guys i am a first time builder and i dont know what motherboard to go with i would like an asus that is good for gaming socket 1155

yes, but depending on the use, you could do just as well with the Z77-A

mainly gaming nm else i am stuck between 2 cpu but i think i am going to go with i5 core 4760k 3.4gh

If going 4760K (wich is socket 1150), then might look at the Asus Z87-A , or a bit higher up is the Z87-Plus, then comes the Z87 Pro or the Hero, there are higher end, but the Hero (what I built with) can handle the needs of most all people (have mine in sig)
