I own a sony vaio pcv-rs420. Came with the ASUS P4SD-VX OEM board and a P4 2.8 w/HT and 512MB of PC2700. Neither Sony or Asus will give me any specs on the board. Sony states the bus speed to be 800mhz. How can this be if PC2700 memory is DDR333. If anyone can help i'd love to know what my board is capable of and if I upgrade to PC3200 will I get a true 800FSB as stated in the specs by Sony?

Try instaling DDR400 ram in the board and see what happens. Upgrade the bios first if newer available.

I received good info recently regarding instaling higher spec ram in my board.

In the specs it was stated that max ram was 333DDR.
If I upgraded the bios, 400DDR could be fitted and should work OK.
(I might not need to upgrade bios at all.)
