Hey guys;

I have 4 Dimms installed on my Asus p5B-Deluxe motherboard

2 x 1G HyperX PC6400 4-4-4-12 at 2.0V
2 X 512M Hyper X PC6400 4-4-4-12 at 2.0V

When all 4 dimms are installed, the BIOS detects 3007Mb of ram and windows vista shows 3007Mb or 2.97Gigs. WHen i go into the BIOS and enable the memory remapping, the bios now sees all 3072Mb of ram but Vista only sees 2 gigs of ram. When i launch CPU-Z it sees all the sticks of ram, but vista still only shows 2 gigs. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks guys.

I've seen this issue before... but you CAN force 32-bit O/S to detect 3GB using the following method (Vista only, XP is much easier haha)

Issue
You want to enable the 3GB switch on the Windows Vista™ operating system.

Solution
To enable the 3GB switch on Windows Vista™
■Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
■At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" (w/o quotes)
■Restart the computer

To turn off the 3GB switch
■Right-click on Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
■At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa" (w/o quotes)
■Restart the computer.

For more information on the 3GB switch, refer to the following Microsoft MSDN article:

Hope this helps :) Cheers
