One of the obvioius differences Gigabyte vs. ASUS in generral and not limited to the 965 chipset you are referring to is the BIOS. Gigabyte uses the Award BIOS and ASUS employs American Megatrends. My preference, generally speaking, is American Megatrends. Either board is more than capable of running your system. It's a matter of personal preference more than one board being the superior overclocker or stabilizing force to your system and your needs. Either will do you well.

I would say ds3. I have 2 of these i bought from frys.
using bios f10 I can hit 500 fsb with pc8000 ram no problem.
This is on a E6300 and a e6600 multiplier set at 7

I can even push up to 533, but heat vs performance at that point not worth
it for me.

i will proebrly get the revison 3/3.3...

but does the bios support the cpu (e4300) out of the box ?

or will i need to flash it with a more up to date one and how will i do that if i cant boot up into the pc/ the bios with the e4300?

thanks

that I cant say for sure, but since its a core2 duo class it might misrepresent the cpu. but it should boot for you to flash.

Best would be to email gigabyte to see if their initial bios on ds3 3.3 supported e4300.
