Asus P5E-VM HDMI with E8500

Have a build that is giving me problems. This is just one of about 15 identical machines so I know the parts all work together...

Original processor Core2 Duo 3.16GHz failed. Replaced it with another brand new identical processor (all processors were purchased at the same time and bought a few extra just in case) and I get no post what so ever. I tried a 2nd brand new chip and still no post. I tried an old Core2 Duo 6428 running at 2.16GHz and everything posts fine.

Tried different memory just in case no post with the E8500 3.16 chips. Tried resetting the BIOS per ASUS website, Tried putting the 2.16 chip back in and works perfect, just won't post with the 3.16.

Any suggestions?


ASUS P5E-VM HDMI
Core2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz
OCZ PC2 6400 reaper X Series 4-4-3@2.1V
Using on board video (at least until it posts)
PNY Nvidia Quadro FX570 (after it posts hopefully)
Corsair HX520W Power supply

Also tried using GSKILL Trident DDR2-1200 PC2-9600 5-5-15 @ 1.8V


Any suggestions would be extremely helpful...

thats either psu or board, pretty much the only thingsyou havnt tested

Discovered that other builds were using an newer bios. Not sure why this was running before the original 3.16 chip failed but I used the 2.16 chip to update the bios and then put the new 3.16 in and was able to get it running. Still having some issues with it booting everytime giving me an error saying overclocking has failed with not using OC features. But I am up and running with it for now.

that happens top me with my intel rig once in a while, but just ste the bios to optimised defaults and ull b fine
