asus p5gpl: only working in single channel mode

I have a asus p5gpl mobo and says it can have a max of 2 gigs in dual channel but will only let me install 1gig in single channel mode, can someone help me out.

I am trying to run 2 gigs in dual channel mode, all 4 slots.

Ok, so what happens when you install the 4x 512MB DIMMs? Also, please list the model numbers of *every* component in your system, including power supply, RAM, CPU cooler, video card, etc.

It says due to chipset limitations it cannot be done. but in the book it says it can. a tech told me to try and change the cas latency or timings? not sure though.
