ASUS P5K LGA 775 vs GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R

I'm having the hardest debate between these two motherboards for my new computer that I am about to build. Both boards seem to be good, with decent overclocking abilities.

From what I have reserached on these two boards, these are the pros and cons of both board
ASUS P5K LGA 775

2 X PciE slots (even though the second slot is x4, it wont make that big of a difference right?)
Vdroop feature (I think it suppose to be good right?)
1 1394 port, which I would probably not use
IDE port is in a bad location but I have a 40 inch IDE wire so that will be of no problem to me.

The newest on board sound chipset
Ultra Durable 2 chip set materials (Not sure if this is super necessary or if it is even that useful at all)
Only 1 PciE slot
Vista+On board chipset control of music licensening. (if you don't have the licensening of the music, the board along with vista will only allow you to play the music in short samples. Please confirm with me if this feature is real or not, because if it is, I will choose the Asus board hands down! I don't have pirated music, but I do not want any of the music of my computer.. not even one song, to be shortened to a sample rate.)

I'm not trying to push my board too far, nor am I trying to push my e6400 past 2.8 in over clocking. But I'm also planning to get a pair of these rams as well http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227231

Do you guys think this configuration with any of these two motherboards will be alright? And if so, which one of these two motherboards will be best?

Umm, can someone please help me choose? I've heard about the next x38 boards. Are they going to be a lot better than the p35's? Are they also sli or crossfire? (I don't know exactly what crossfire is, but crossfire only works for ati cards correct? Because i have nvidia cards.)

Please give some suggestions everyone =]

Well, I have the P35-DS3R and love it, it booted right up with no problems. I have owned a number of Gigabyte boards and have yet to have a problem with overclocking or stability. As of yet I have not oc'ed on the DS3R, but I have no doubts in it's ability to oc if the reviews of the P35 chipsets are correct and if I have the same experiences I have had with my other Gigabyte boards.

I still can't decide which mobo to get GAGABYTE P35 DS3R or P35 DS3P. Some people saying DS3R Better then DS3P some people saying DS3P better then DS3R lol

Whoa! Are you serious? I swear the p35 supported sli? How big of a difference is 4x? I hear most graphics cards can't even utilize all 16 pipe lines?

Yes please, can someone confirm that? I think I saw that on the gigabyte website, but I'm not certain if it retains to just one of the p35 boards or all of them?

Do you guys know which one is easier at overclocking? I'm a complete noob to overclocking and I want a good board that can over clock easy as well as be powerful in overclocking. Would the x38 boards be better for the wait?

DS3R if you need ICH9R RAID but no Firewire
P5K if you need Firewire but no ICH9R RAID
abit IP35 if you want both firewire & ICH9R for under $120 (ar @ mwave)

all 3 decent mobos

What exactly is raid? Is it really better for your system? I see people talking about raid all the time, but I dont understand the raid levels. I know it improves reading speed, but doesn't it require two hard drives of the same brand and size? I heard it also over heats the hard drive but i have a 120mm fan on the hard drives so i'll be fine.

What about the x38's? When will they be released? I would like a sli capable board, but its not required. I wouldn't mind using it since I could open it up one day. (sli requires something of the same type right such as... 8600gts and 7600gts... i can't do 8600gts and 8800gtx right?)

Never heard of it. I assume it can be fixed by using Windows XP or getting an X-Fi. I'm doing both anyway :D

Going SLI is only a good idea if your going to be using a huge LCD display. I my opinion its a waist of money because you will never see a 50% difference in gaming on most games. If your using a 19"-22" LCD then skip SLI and CrossFire.

Especially if you're using a 17 inch monitor like me, going SLI is pretty much useless. You should go for the single slotted motherboards and try to go for the board with better on board functions. When does the x38's come out anyways?
