ASUS P5LD2 - Used AI Booster - Cannot Boot

Hello,

I may have made a very stupid mistake... In an attempt to overclock my cpu I used the AI Booster program that came with the Asus motherboard. I know, I'm an idiot because I set the speed at 120% and rebooted as it requested. Now the machine hangs at the ASUS logo screen.

The AI Booster manual mentions that if the machine cannot boot with the setting it will show a message that states "press any button to return to default" but that message never appears. Basically the machine starts up, shows the logo screen, goes black and shows the disks then goes back to the logo screen and hangs up. I can get into the BIOS settings by hitting the delete key before it goes to the logo screen the 2nd time but I'm unsure of which setting will get me back to the previous state.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I promise I won't touch a single OC setting again until I read up on it first.

Thank you,
Bob

Hello,

I tried that first when I couldn't get past the logo screen but it had no effect.

I removed the battery to reset the CMOS and the machine is back to normal. (I never thought I'd be so happy to see that Windows XP logo)

Anyway, I uninstalled the AI Booster program and will read up on Overclocking first before messing around again.

Thank you for the replies.

Bob
