ASUS P5N-D not saving bios

Hi all,

I've just finally got my system to run at 3.6ghz stable. I reverted back to stock settings to do some tests to compare performance, and now... My bios refuses to save any settings except for voltages!? If I try to change the value of my FSB and save the bios, I upon reboot the changes have reverted to "auto" setting?

Anybody got a similar issue like this?

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
2 Gb Corsair XMS2 6400C4
 
I figured it out with the techs from Asus.

Apparently you simply need to try a smaller increment of OC, and make your way up. Which is strange since "sometimes" it does work going form 1333 to 1600 FSB.

I tried 1333 to 1400 it saved properly. And from then on, I haven't had it again not saving. The Asus tech "sorta explained" to me that it's some of the safeguards in the bios that prevent from "major" changes being made. I'm a bit sad that the tech guy didn't seem so sure of himself actually lol.

yea i got a problem with that too. I tried to bump my FSB up to 1333 from 1066 and it did not save so i tried small incriments 1066 to 1070... did not save

Vcore- 1.4
Ram- 1.85
NB-1.4
SB- 1.5
HT- 1.25


any ideas?

yea i was going to say next, i have been trying to use the Update your BIOS feature using the ASUS update softare but i dont think i am doing it right. Is there a guide for that?
 
You can use Asus EZ Flash 2. Which is the easiest way. Download and save the latest BIOS file to a USB drive. Boot up into your BIOS. Under Tools --> EZ Flash 2. Navigate to the BIOS on your USB drive. Pick the file and update.
 
eh, dident work as expected, I got a .BIN file from ASUS. put it on a flash drive and tried to update it but i couldent locate the file

The first time i tried a few weeks back and it did not work using a no-name brand USB stick.

I tried this morning with my CRUZER micro and it worked. But now when overclock, I get a blue screen followed by a restart. Does this just take fiddling around time? Is there a guide on the forums here?
 
I have the same mobo and a Q6600 cpu...I am having the same problem, but when I was unstable once, my computer loaded up extremely fast, when I changed some voltages it became slower but stable and I did tests. When I de-clocked it I did not notice a change in loading times and the fps for some games still remained the same, but cannot still OC it again because it doesn't save FSB settings in BIOS...I have the latest BIOS.
 
same problems here , i got asus P5N-E Sli & q6600 , used to get 2.7ghz earlier
then something happened and cant save anymore
