2.0 cards have no issue running in 1.0 slots. 2.1 cards sometimes have issues in 1.0 slots when there was no BIOS update done by the manufacturer to support 2.1.
I read that and did make some thinkings, but are so uncertain what it means to me.
So my question is how good GPU can i put in my rig and still it will work well?

Thanks in advance!

sorry for bad grammar
and perhaps double post

You could probably dump a pair of GTX480's there without too much of a hassle....after you get a new PSU....lol.....
Are those x8 PCIe 1.0? If so, dual GPU is not an option.
In 16x mode, I suppose any single GPU card like a 5870 or a GTX480 will work with maybe a 5-8% drop in frames as compared to PCIE 2.0....
