Asus p5n-e sli motherboard and checksum error

When I boot my computer I get the following message on my screen "Keyboard error or no Keyboard present CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded. I brought a USB keyboard but that is not recognized so I cannot access my CMOS I also brought and installed a new batter. I have removed the battery and reset the BIOS by moving the cap on the pins of the motherboard but I still get the same error Any feedback would be much appreciated

Some BIOS have a setting for USB legacy support which will allow you to boot using a USB Keyboard and Mouse.

Older BIOS do not have it ENABLED by default. You will need a PS2 keyboard to enter the BIOS and change the setting.
