Having trouble with the above, decided to stop booting last week, all fans spin, including video card, motherboard power led comes on, but I get no post beep(s), and no vga display.

Breif spec -
Asus P5N-E SLI
Intel Quad Core
nvidia 8800 GTX
1TB Sata
4GB Kingston (x2 sticks)

So far I have tried -

Unpluged all hard drives, dvds, pci cards etc. So just left with video card and memory.
Tried different psu
Tried different video card
Cleared cmos jumper
Checked and re-seated the single /dual card selector
Tried various memory combinations and single sticks

I get no beeps, even with no memory in! And no video card! Only error beep I get is if I have the 8800 GTX in, but with the power not connected, that gives me a long continuous beep.

Any help welcome, I want to try the 8800 GTX in another machine, but I dont think my spare / donor pc supports it, even though the pci slot says PCI E1 x16??

I did try it in my spare / donor pc, gives a long beep followed by x2 short ones = video error I believe, but unsure if the motherboard supports the card, or if the cards shot it!

Will try it in another, shouldnt my motherboard give error or post beeps when no memory or video card installed?

what i explain is the beep code means there is something abnormal with your gpu the way to find is made test like you did and if one of your board have a internal video chipset remove the gpu fromthis board and boot system you should not receive beep code error most motherboard maker include the beep code and what it is meaning in the mobo user manual .

Even more confused. Tried the nvidia 8800 gtx in my dads pc, again it wont work! However his pc does have an inboard vga, so I set it to this in the bios, booted via this, got into windows, in device manager the 8800 gtx shows up as unknown device, 3d graphics driver. But it wont give the option to search for drivers etc.

Maybe the 8800 gtx is faulty

It was the video card! But its fixed by baking it in the oven at 385f for ten minutes! Like the xbox fixes etc, I fixed my xbox by reflowing the solder with the heat gun, so thought I will give it a go! Nothing to lose!

Now 100% working again!

After many many hrs and nothing anyone suggested working we finally solved this today. Despite the fact the motherboard previously had the quad core running in my pc my sons new gaming pc he built had the same issues. I checked everything on the entire build we even tried an old core 2 duo processor still no avail. Then i realized we had 1 other processor 2 try despite the motherboard being made yrs later from an old Dell. The 1st dual core made a pentium D. Low and behold with a modern dvi dual monitor graphics card the pc came 2 life. Bios update 2 accept the quad core and good 2 go.
