Here's an abridged list of my system components:

-Motherboard: Asus P5N32-E SLI
-Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe 6600, 2.4 GHz
-I don't remember the name of my heat sink, but it cools using air, but is considerably larger than the stock Intel one, and well reviewed online.

I have tried matching others with similar setups. The last configuration I've tried was 1500 MHz FSB and the vcore voltage was set to ~1.54 volts.

The problem: The BIOS would not always load when I turned the computer on (I had to manually restart it), and when it did boot properly, the clock speed was unaffected, according to both Windows and CPU-Z.

Recommendations? I've seen that many people using this processor can achieve between 3.3 and 3.8 GHz. I know on the higher-end they're using liquid cooling systems, but I've still seen nicer air-cooled systems in the 3.3 range.

Advice?

I wouldn't go by other peoples numbers when overclocking. Every chip is different, as are the other components in your build. Also Nvidia chip sets don't overclock as well or as high as Intel based boards. 3.0 to 3.4 is a realistic goal for that board. 1.54 is a lot of voltage for that chip, what does cpuz report the voltage as?

Since my last foray into overclocking didn't work stably (and the higher performance wasn't recorded by cpu-z, so it must not have worked), I returned everything to the default. According to cpu-z, the default voltage for my processor is about 1.32 v.
