The light turns on on the motherboard but that's it nothing else. Could it be the PSU? If so how can I rule out each component
No fans turn on or anything
PC Specs 8 gb ddr2 ram
Q6600
Asus P5Q

Thanks

Glad it worked. It is a PIA for me because the battery is directly under my GPU. My PSU is old Corsair TX 650 and while not the worst PSU I now understand is is not the greatest either. I was able to pick up a XFX 650 (manufactured by Seasonic) for $40 on rebate and plan on tearing down my system and giving it a much need bath and replacing the PSU to see if it helps. That system is not long for this world but I can reuse that XFX PSU.
Nearly the same system, I have the P5Q-E/Q6600. Although I have never had the exact problem you are experiencing mine does fail to boot a few times per year. The fix for me is to clear CMOS with the jumper AND pull the battery for 30 seconds with psu unplugged. It certainly could be a psu failure as well. What psu do you have and how old?

Hope this helps.

Its a thermal lake 520W I think I bought this off TradeMe. It has the newish plug things where you can choose what to plug into the power supply. Ill have a look tomorrow and test another power supply and see if it works. If it doesn't is the mobo broken?

None worth using the clip test ill test another power supply and see if that works.

I removed the cmos battery and reset the bios and it works think it was something to do with the bios it wasn't the power supply or something.
