Hello everyone I have a mb asus p5q pro and recently I bought 8 GB of ram ddr2 cl6 800mhz but my PC is not working .... I get bsod every time I start the PC . my components are :
Core 2 quad q6600 CPU
MSI nvidia 9800gtx+
Kingston 120 GB ssd
Cooler master real power 450 w
I don't know what to do cuz' the 4 sticks are brand new . can somebody help me ? 🙁

look on the side of the ram and see if it says a voltage requirement, like 1.5 or 1.7. If it does you might have to go into the bios and raise the voltage to at least what is specified. If you dont you will get blue screens. In my mobo bios its labed DRAM voltage

On ram it says 1.8V .... What can I do ? I don't know how to oc memory and how much ?

When your computer first starts up spam the button it says to enter bios or setup, mine is f2 or delete. You will have to search through your settings to find DRAM voltage, or something similar. Mine is under the advanced tab in my bios. If you can change it just raise it up to 1.8v. If that doesnt work increase by .1v increments until it is stable.

I found the DRAM voltage option but what are the best settings to make the system work ? My minimal voltage is 1.80V and the maximum voltage is 3.08V

Wow those ddr2s use a lot of power. I wouldnt raise it up too much, try 1.9 and if that doesnt work 2.0, I probably wouldnt go above that. If thats not the solution then something else is the culprit. I am about to go into class for an exam but I will check back after I am done, keep me posted.

Also if that doesnt work try playing musical chairs with ur ram. Use 3 sticks, if that doesnt work try 2. Try and see if you can troubleshoot to see if one may be bad. Keep in mind this mobo is a dual channel, so its going to work best with only one stick in each channel. Some dual channels can work with two sticks in each but some dont like it at all.

I tried to do as you said but It was for nothin' . should I try with only 2 sticks of ram instead of 4 ?

I tried the "musical chair" ideea too but I had no luck 🙁( , every time I start the pc with 1 stick of memory it restarts before the windows 7 loading screen shows up and with all of 'em I'm getting bsod. I'm thinking if my mobo is not working with the memory should I give them back to the seller ?

Hmm, not quite yet. From what I can tell this memory is compatible. You are installing the one stick in the slot closest to the cpu correct?

Also if memory isnt comptible in my experience the display wont even turn on. It is also possible the ram was damaged. You wouldnt happen to have another rig to test the ram on would you?

I tried on every slot and still nothin'
