Hello, I'd like to start by saying thanks for even taking a look at my problem. I do appreciate it.

Anyway, I picked up an ASUS P5QPL-AM motherboard off of eBay some time ago to test out the LGA 771 to LGA 775 conversion mod. It was a success, but I noticed something was off.

The support page for the board says it can handle 8GB of DDR2 memory in 1066(O.C.)/800/667 speeds. With the board only having two slots I picked up 2x4GB DIMMs and this is where things start to get weird. In Windows (Yes, I'm using a 64-bit version) running a DxDiag reports back that the system is running with only 4GB instead of 8GB, so I assumed a stick had died and pulled it out. Now the DxDiag says it's running with 2GB instead of 4GB.

I've gone through many different forums looking for a fix, but to no avail.

Now here's the odd bit. Both Speccy and CPU-Z report 8GB of RAM with both sticks installed, but the system BIOS and DxDiag both report back a total of 4GB. I've tried other sticks (for example 2x2GB) and have had everything work properly. As a side note, it can't be an issue with the CPU mod because I've also tested it with a Core 2 Duo and Pentium 4 with the same results.
