I may have just goofed, luckily not too expensive... Wanted to add memory to my P6T (have 6GB, need 8GB min for FS2020). I purchased 2 x 8GB DDR3 PC3-10600 DIMM/1333MHz, non-ECC sticks. I checked my original order to make sure all these specs matched. Then I wanted to make sure I understood where best to put them so I checked the manual, and it says: "You may install 1GB and 2GB unbuffered and non-ECC DDR3 DIMMs into the DIMM sockets." Then the QVL goes on to only list 1 and 2 GB memory.
Did I just buy $50 worth of paperweights? Would the new 8GB memory have any chance of working, or would it damage the mobo or destroy the memory? The max memory is 24GB (in six sockets), so 4GB DIMMS must be supported even though none appear in the QVL, or in that quote above. Would I be better to just buy two or three matching 4GB sticks instead? BIOS is most current v1408.
That's what I get for not reading the whole chapter before ordering, derp. I won't even open the package if it's not likely to work.
