Hi everyone!

i would like to upgrade with an SSD my gig storage (also because my old HDD is failing, maybe some burned cluster) but I fear my mobo is too old to support an SSD.
Would it be possible to upgrade with an SSD or it would be just a waste of money ? In case, which SSD should i buy? ( in my country is difficult to find the "old" 840 pro since it's been replaced by the new 850 pro).

Thanks!

Solution
They will all operate at either the speed of the SATA drive you choose, or the speed of the SATA port on your motherboard, whichever is the lower of the two.

That just leaves reliability as the main deciding factor when choosing an SSD. Go to some of the online sellers and check out the buyer reviews (eg Amazon).

thanks for you answer. So between all SSD out there would it be a "waste" of money to buy a 850 pro instead of a kingston/or even a Samsung EVO/others? By that i mean is it worth to go for the 850 or i wouldn't be able to see any difference between all those SSD since i mount them in an old rig?
