Asus P7P55D PRO & memory settings

Hi,

My brother got a new system and were been trying to get it stable for a couple of days now.

Theres alot of random freezes in both XP and 7. Everything in bios is set on default.
I'm quite sure the problem is in the memory setting...maybe the timing is off.


The memory was abit overkill since neither of us has done any over clocking:

1x4GB
A-data Vitesta Dual-kit DDR3 1600MHz+ Extreme Edition

Module specification: 240Pin Unbuffered-DIMM Non ECC
Transmission Bandwidth: 10600MB/Sec(PC3-10600)
CL value: 8-8-8-24
Working voltage: 1.75V-1.85V


Can someone please help out with the bios setting?

Max recommended memory voltage for P55 is 1.65v. I'm not sure how safe it is to run higher voltage memory (or the negative effect it might have on the integrated memory controller), but its not something I would recommend.

I dont think bumping up the voltage to 1.75 would do it any harm. It would just run alittle hotter.

Heres from the manual:

Before you change the settings for extra-high overvoltage ability, use the BIOS items
frst to adjust the desired DRAM performance. Ensure your system functions well
under the highest BIOS voltage settings before you change the setting of this switch

• According to Intel CPU spec, DIMMs voltage below 1.65V is recommended to protect the CPU.

• The system may need a better cooling system (for example, a water-cooling system) to work stably under high voltage settings.

Anyone know what timings is should use?

For what it's worth were using an Antec Three Hundred with 4 fans, so it has pretty good air flow.
