ASUS P8 Z68-V ... Windows will not boot

I upgraded a Win7-64 box from an ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo to and ASUS P8 Z68-V GEN3 ...

Window tries to boot normally and comes up with the windows 7 logo but then will not finish the boot and gives me repair options.

The self repair does not work and the error log indicates the probable problem as unspecified change to the system configuration. Yep ... I installed a new MB.

Also, I cannot seem to get the system to boot in Windows safe mode when pressing F8 ... I just get a drive boot menu and then it tries to start windows normally

The question is can this situation be fixed without a complete fresh reload of Windows 7?

No. Normally, changing boards requires a fresh installation of windows unless the two boards share the same chipset.
