Hello there
I have an ASUS P8B75-V with an i5-3470 and 2 Kingston 4GB RAM modules (retail common 1600Mhz RAM) with an EVGA 500W PSU and a GT 740 SC 4GB GPU (its not a top GPU, but it works for me, and since I don´t play a lot of new games, mostly ones I play are fine, but since I use a lot of apps (graphic apps mostly) my CPU and RAM are slow (specially RAM, since sometimes it gets up to 80% of use with a few open apps (I have a lot of bg apps opened)
So, I am thinking about getting 32GB RAM (4 x 8GB) and an i7-3770K, because this mobo can get up to 3770K (1155 slot) and 32GB RAM
With ASUS PC Suite my actual CPU, even being locked at 3.20GHZ goes up to 3.6GHzand even with the common factory cooler it does not get a lot of heat, since the case got a lot of fans)
About the RAM: ASUS official specs says this mobo only accepts up to 2200Mhz RAM in OC mode, but the BIOS says this mobo can handle up to 2800Mhz RAM, and sites that check RAM compatibility lists up to 2800Mhz modules.
So, what should I follow ? The official manual, or what the BIOS says ?
I checked out a few RAM models:
Pny 32gb (4x8gb) Ddr3 2133 Enthusiast Edition
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Red
G.skill Trident 2666mhz X F3-2666c12d-16gtxd
I did not ask recommendations for any 2800Mhz RAM because they are overprice here in Brazil), and of course I can´t get a new generation mobo and CPU now, so I could only upgrade my actual setup, and see what I could to to overclock it (at least a bit) without bigger risks
And about the CPU, what cooler I should get ?
Cooler Master Hyper T4 2011 1366 1156 1155 Fm2 Fm1 Am3+
Zalman Cnps10x Performa 1150/1151/1155/1156/1366/2011
Or there is a better cooler with the same price range (or a little more expensive) and no too big
And I don´t want to put a WC here since I don´t know anything about installing WCs and I prefere not to risk doing any crap
My case is a CM 690 II (with HDD dock at the top), so with 4 RAM modules, RAM fans (GSKILL RAM kits come with fans) what CPU cooler I should use that would not compromise a future GPU because of the size ?
The GT 740 SC is a small GPU, but since I am planning to get a bigger (newer) GPU in a few months, I really can´t use a big CPU cooler that would risk both RAM and or GPU upgrade.
And of course: Is my 500W PSU gonna handle this upgrade (not considering the future GPU up)
And if I get a new GPU, I should get a 650W (or more) PSU ? Or even get another 500W so I could daisy chain it ? (I saw a device to daisy-chain PSUs sometime ago)
Tks !
