Asus P8H61-M LX R3.0 with i7-3770k

Solution
check the motherboard compatible cpu list from asus support pages of your board and see ??? may also require a bios update before you can use that cpu as well ? cpu not listed = not supported

more help ....

is this you board ?/

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8H61M_LX3_R20/

if so click the support link then cpu support to get this

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8H61M_LX3_R20/HelpDesk_CPU/

then look for your cpu you want to use

Core i7-3770 (3.4G,L3:8M,iGPU,4C,HT.VT-d,77W,rev.E1) ALL 0304

shows that i7 3770 is supported under bios 0304

then check bios download page under driver and tools and select you OS used then bios and get this

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8H61M_LX3_R20/HelpDesk_Download/

you then see bios 0304 is the first release and your covered with out needing to flash works out of the box on that board

good luck

depends on the board venders like asus and all did allow overclocking on them its INTEL that made them stop supporting it and any bios updates maybe the one that has oc abilities removed

that's all on intel not the boards vender

http://www.overclockers.com/asrock-confirms-overclocking-b85-h87-motherboards/

http://wccftech.com/intel-blocking-haswell-non-z-oc-k-series-processors-h87-b75-motherboards/

his board comes with the utilities for ocing but weather or not any of it can be used ??? in the end it all ways better to get a ''z'' type board that it is fully supported

like you said and me as well I use non k cpu's and they do all I ask great so if you don't oc that ''K'' chip still should do all you want

its all about intel's ways and being a stick in the mud and $$$$$ just like now with them screwing up skylake non z and non k overclocking INTEL tells them ''NO'' when its easy to be YES
