Asus p8z68-v pro and p8z68-v pro/gen 3 compatibility

I currently have a gen 3 version of this mobo that went down. Looking for a replacement on eBay. All the non gen 3 versions are 50 dollars cheaper.

If I were to get the non gen 3 version, will my hard drive and everything be compatible? Or should I just get the gen 3 to be safe as far as compatibility goes?

The boards seem close enough in spec that it shouldn't be an issue just wanted to make sure

It should be fine. The big difference between them is the Gen 3 board supports pci-e version 3.0.
