Hi,

I'm looking to use an external USB 3.0 drive to image my OS drive, I use Acronis True Image Home 2011. In the past I would use it with an internal drive outside the operating system - Windows 7.

However Acronis isn't seeing the drive when I try to image, the BIOS sees it. I have the drive connected directly to a MB USB 3.0 connector, In the BIOS I have USB & USB 3.0 Legacy enabled.
I thought I would at least be able to use this with 2.0 speed.

Any thoughts on I how I can get this configuration to work or is there new software that will see this drive,

As mentioned above I clone outside of Windows by booting from the CD.

Thanks,
Phil

The boot disc for Acronis TI I believe uses the WinPE 3.0 environment which, I think I'm right in saying, doesn't support USB 3.0 natively.

Plug the drive in to a USB 2.0 port if there are any, or create the image within Windows (yes you can do it in Windows quite safely despite all the scare stories and misinformation.).

Otherwise you're gonna have to add your motherboards USB 3.0 drivers to WinPE. I can't help you there.
