Asus P8Z77-V Power button not working

So I have set up my first build, and everything seems to work except the front panel button. When I push the button nothing happens, but when I do it manually on the motherboard it works out fine, all the fans and lights work well. I then tried to push the button to turn it off, and I get a bunch of Q-codes and it doesn't go off. I've tried re-connecting the pins several times, but its not making a difference. Im using a Antec Nine Hundred case.

Does it boot to windows when you manually turn it on?

no, i'm yet to install the operating system

Can you get to BIos when you manually start the motherboard?

yes, no problem with it

Do you have another case you could try putting it in temporarily? I've never heard of a faulty power button. They're probably the simplest part of the computer.
