asus p8z77vlx overclock

im looking to overclock using the asus p8z77 vlx mobo. i have youtubed this a couple times and everytime i put the settingsin on the bios, it either makes my ghz go down or doesnt change at all. all of them claim to have their setups at 4.4+ ghz. so i dont know if what im doing is wrong. please. any help is appreciate. i have the i5 3570k cpu, asus p8z77vlx mobo and a msi gtx 760 2gb gpu.

I have this board, and I was easily able to OC on it. Here is a thread from another forum, scroll down and you will see an in depth guide on how to properly OC this mobo.

ok so i followed the exact settings he had, saved the changes and reset. went back into bios and it still read 3513 mhz. any ideas?

I'm pretty sure it did that for me as well, download this, it will tell you how fast each processor is, sometimes the bios doesn't match up. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

No problem, glad I could help. And if it doesn't work, just go into bios, hit escape and hit load optimal settings. Then follow the guide again you might have just missed something if it didn't work.

ok so when i opened cpuid, the core mhz says its running at 4398.97 mhz. im guessing it is overclocked then?

Sure is man, 4.3ghz. Congrats man Just make sure your temps aren't getting too high, especially these first few days with it being OC'd.
