Asus p9x79 mobo with 3 gpus...

Hello all,

This board (asus p9x79) has quad gpu sli capabilities(on paper) but it looks like not.


see i already have a gtx 680, now added two gtx 580s and there s no space left and have let gtx 680 go

I think i have to get rid of the gtx 680 and buy a quadro k600 which will fit on to the lowest pci slot but there is cabling very near and even that might not fit...



ps: i bought the 580s for gpu rendering/gaming and need a third card for viewport stability.

A number of mobos advertise this way and in fact it will support Quad SLI - with a but.......a big but......to run QUAD SLI you need a pair of dual GPU cards like a pair of the 690s or the new MARS 760...sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Np, i was expecting that but i did not expect to have difficulty on a "3 gpu" setup...

it looks like i can not insert a 3-slot wide-gpu to the last (WHITE)pci at the bottom? or are there peripherals like after market "L" shaped connectors? so it wont bend the wire tips

Can someone explain me,

can i use the two gtx 580s by inserting on to the middle pci3 slot and the other to the bottom one(pcie x8) and maybe use SLI?
