Question ASUS P9X79 Pro Cannot create RAID

Have ASUS p9X79 With Bios 4601 Bios
Fitted 4 x 2TB Western Digital SATA drives with OS on 250GB GB SSD
I go to BIOS/Advanced
Create RAID Name/type and Assign the discs to belong to the RAID
Then Nothing Happens

I was expecting the RAID to take some time to Build but nothing happens

Is there a RAID driver i need to install
if so can some one please point me in that direction

Have you checked that the HDD is connected to correct set of sata ports according to manual? You may try to disconnect the ssd while building the raid (if that somehow make the sata raid controller confused).

And I don't know if W10 support the raid controller out of the box (a google search would probably answer this very quickly)

The 3 drives appear in Storage Manager and they are physically connected to the Blue SATA ports
on Motherboard
Just tried to create the Raid again and get the same issue
It allows me to name the RAID Choose the Discs to Add to the RAID
then the Create RAID warns about Formatting the Disc then nothing

So what you says is that the menu confirm that it see both drives ?

Have you dig into the manufactor site and see if there are some list over device known to not work properly with the raid controller ?

How long time did you gave the raid setup?

When "nothing happens" - do you mean you have confirmed (visually or audible) that there are no disk activity going on after you're finished selecting in the menu ?

On the raid setup screen it displays the 4 drives which are all 2tb Western digital
I select the Raid Name
Then the Raid type (5)
Then select the 4 drives
Asked if i want to create the Raid and warns that all data will be lost which is ok
Confirm the option then enter Y to create the Raid
Then it just sits there with no Disc activity
Left it 10 minutes but no progress bar

As the problem are specific for that particular MB model, I'd recommend you to contact the manufacturer and ask for help. Maybe it turns out there are something faulty to that particular mobo - who knows.

Tried using the blue and grey sata ports
The discs are identified correctly each time

Probably yes - but that is not related to the original issue - or did you get it to work (disk activity) this time?

No its exactly the same issue
Same discs same process
Proves the Sata ports are all working
Has to be a raid driver
Created the Raid again and left it for an hour
No activity no progress bar

Are the 4 hdd of excact same model?

And how old are your mobo - 2012? Maybe it have problems with newer disks?
