Hi all,

I am looking for a monitor that will fit my needs. I have researched around and am trying to find a proper balance between my needs for work and also hobby.

I am considering this monitor and will eventually get a total of 2:

I will be using this monitor a lot for software development, increasing more photo editing and 3d modeling/digital art, and gaming.

Game examples: Skyrim, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, Rift, WoW, BF4, CS:GO, Farcry 3, League, etc.

I do not get to play games as often as I'd like anymore, so my gladiator days I'm afraid are most likely over. That said, I still want a good monitor without having to worry about tears, etc. but do not play twitch gaming. I would rather enjoy the colors and settings now a days and have a clear text for when working.

I am currently running 2 gtx 285's in sli (yikes) and a 1680 x 1050 60hz monitor, but plan on getting a gtx 770 soon before the second monitor, which will only be used when really working, not even when gaming for anything to hold me over before my next big build, then this one will be used for just software dev and digital art.

I'm just looking for some opinions and am still open to suggestions. Thanks!

Solution
A 770 could run 2 x 1080p monitors. But not as well as a gxt970.

But neither would run 2 x 1440p monitors that well. One OK from the 970. And so-so from the 770.
Thanks for the input and link correction. I have been looking at the Tempest.

In regards to the graphics card, I can stretch it but here's the deal with that. I haven't updated hardware in a while. Still running a Q series quadcore and the mobo is a 775 cpu socket type, which prevents any upgrade in that area. I work from home and have an i5 laptop but plan to use this desktop for work after building a completely new rig (980/970 sli setup) a few months from now. I figured a gtx 770 would be better than my current 2 285 sli setup and could push 2 27" monitors for work and 1 for decent gaming frames until that build is complete. Thoughts with that new knowledge?

Thanks for the input.

As a follow up to this though, will my current system specs bottleneck a 970 if I choose to get one?

Specs:
Mobo: EVGA 132-CK-NF79 (Socket 775)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz
RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB 1600mhz

Thanks
