I've been looking into 1440p 27" Monitors for my new setup which I'm due to build very soon. I'm getting this screen now as my secondary 22" is failing on me.

I mostly game on console on my main TV, but I will be gaming on my PC also when it's built. But I also do a lot of graphic web design etc so I need a monitor that is great for both. I've done a lot of research but still can't seem to decide. I was going more towards the ASUS PB278Q but now I've seen there are two versions a 2012 version and 2014, and have seen negative reviews towards the 2014 version compared to 2012. Is the 2014 still PLS? The 2014 costs around £425 where as the 2012 costs about £375... Are there any other monitors that can compare to the ASUS for gaming & design work that's priced similar? 27" 1440p?

Thank you,
Kuzz

I am looking at buying this display as well. I have heard that the 2012 version had some issues and that the 2014 version is better. Another monitor that you might be interested in is the LG 27MB85R. It is around the same price range (in the Netherlands, that is) and has better colour reproduction. However, the Asus has better response time and less ghosting. This probably means the Asus is better for gaming, and the LG better for Graphic design, etc. I haven't decided which one to buy yet.

Here is my thread where I'm having a discussion about a few monitors that are simmilar to your needs: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2692181/upgrade-monitor.html

I ended up purchasing the PB278QR which was the 2014 one that they only sell in Europe. I don't regret it!!! It's a great monitor, played Witcher on it and it looks awesome. I do Photoshop on it daily it and it's awesome. Great monitor.

I am really debating I should get the LG 27MB85R or the Asus MG279Q. You can join the discussion on: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2692181/upgrade-monitor.html#16117659
