ASUS PCE-AC56 Won't Enable/Connect to PC

I recently bought an ASUS PCE-AC56 wireless adapter to replace my old one, the ASUS PCE-N53. I have installed the card into my motherboard and have installed the utilities/drivers from the disk. The problem occurs when I try to launch the ASUS WLAN Control Centre it says, 'Please connect the ASUS Wireless adapter to your computer before running the utility.' I am unable to see any networks let alone connect to them. The blue light on the card is flashing, so I don't think it is a hardware issu. Windows diagnostic concludes that it is a driver problem.

When I go into Control Panel --> Network and Internet --> Network and Sharing Centre and click 'Change adapter settings,' It shows the device as disabled. When I right click and press enable it says the device is enabling, then it says it is enabled after a couple of seconds then the notification disappears and shows the device as still 'disabled.' Clicking the network icon in the bottom left on the task-bar just says Not connected and no connections are available.

I borrowed one of my friends D-Link Wireless adapters and the same problem occurred. After installing the software and drivers the card would not enable and I could not connect. My previous card (ASUS PCE-N53) worked fine on my computer, the reason for the replacement was a broken antenna.

My PC Specs:
OS: Windows 7
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87x-UD3H
CPU: i7 4770k
RAM: 16gb Corsair
Power Supply: CS750M 80 plus gold
CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i water cooler
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 708 w/ ACX Cooling

If you require any other information please let me know and I will do my best to reply.
Please help me figure this problem out, I've been at it for weeks with no luck.

Thanks, Ben.

My ASUS PCE-N53 still works fine. The PC recognises it when it s installed in the same pci e slot and I can see my networks. One of its antenna broke which is the reason for the replacement.

I un-installed the software I got from the disc before installing the software I got from the ASUS website. The adapter shows up as enabled in device manager but when I go into Network and Sharing and click on adapter settings the AC56 says disabled. When I try enabling it stays disabled. The PCI E slot does work as that is the slot I used for my old card.
