ASUS PCE-AC68 802.11ac Network Adapter drops wireless connection whenever any USB plugged into computer

Over the summer I built my first PC and incorporated an ASUS PCE-AC68 802.11ac Network Adapter into it. It works wonderfully except that any time I plug any USB into my computer it drops its wireless connection. Doesn't matter if it's a phone, my wireless headset, or even just a wireless mouse. I have tried searching but have found no posts about this problem. The drivers are up to date,I've checked my installation, and can't seem to find a random setting that could easily alleviate this problem. A few seconds after I plug in a USB device it drops my connection for roughly 20 seconds before automatically reconnecting. If I attempt to manually reconnect before 20 seconds or so, it gives me the generic windows error connecting to network message. I can see my wireless network and all of the networks around me at all times, it just decides it no longer wishes to connect for a little bit. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Hi, I have the same adapter and I've never encounter a problem like that. Which wireless router are you using? Is the firmware current on the router? What motherboard and are the bios current on it? Does the problem occur on any usb port or a certain one? Had you used a usb adapter at one time before the Asus?

Trendnet TEW-812 DRU, yes, Asrock Z97 Extreme6 and yes, every port, and no I had not. Just realized that's not 100% accurate though, whatever I plug in needs to try to interact with the computer. If I just plug in my mouse to charge it doesn't drop connection. One of my first thoughts was there might be some odd setting, possibly in the motherboard BIOS, that will try to default to a USB connection when one is plugged in. Any credence to that thought? I'm still new to building my own stuff so I'm still deeply in the learn as I go stage.

I have been experiencing the same issue, where whenever I plug in or unplug a USB to my computer (which I also built over the summer), the ASUS PCE-AC68 802.11ac wireless adapter disconnects. It goes through the same process you described, where it gives the error and then 20 seconds later reconnects. Did you figure anything out about this issue?
