During a recent move, one of the plastic sleeves on one of the antennae of my Asus pce-n53 wireless card fell off of my PC and my internet speeds have subsequently declined.

Would any rp-sma replacement antenna work? should I buy two?

Solution
Antenna are pretty much just fancy pieces of wire and the theories on their design have existed since before consumer WiFi. You should be able to use any antenna that has the proper connector.

You want it to be about the same gain but it isn't obvious in the specs for your card. Most cards use about 5db gain antenna but if you were to match by physical size it would likely be ok too. Because of the tricks cards use to transmit multiple overlapping signals you need the antenna to have about the same gain. You could just replace both if you really wanted to be sure or if you wanted to buy larger antenna. Do not get carried away though larger antenna does help a small bit but it is not what most people think when they look...
