Asus PCE-N53 Extremely slow download speed Windows 10

I've just built a new PC and installed Windows 10. I'm using the Asus PCE-N53 but it is extremely slow even when I'm in the same room as the router. I have downloaded all the updated drivers for both my motherboard and the wireless card. Not sure what else to do. Any help is appreciated.

One of the first things to do since you have the latest drivers, etc. would be to test the local environment to see what wireless channels are in use.

Download and run the free version of inSSIDer from HERE, check the networks page for surrounding signals by channel and strength.

Also, insure that nothing with a wireless signal is close to the router or adapter, any wireless device from a KB to a baby monitor can be an issue, as can be anything with a motor on the outlet for the devices (less likely but still possible).
