Hi, I just upgraded my system and unfortunately made a shortcut between 12v and 5v at the psu. I thought the psu is the problem, so I replaced it, but the system is still not booting or showing anything. The power switch on the Mainboard doesn't work. The build in LEDs on the Mainboard only glow when I shortcut the atx plug. But nothing shows up on the screen then. I tried to remove and switch graphics card. Removed Ram and switched slot.
What other parts could have taken damage from the shortcut between 12v and 5v.
Can I try something else before replacing the board?

Solution
Got a speaker now. So 1 long, 3 shorts which means on Asus board, no VGA detected. That means the power supply from both pci-express slots are connected onboard?
So I guess it's solved and if someone makes the same mistake he knows what is damaged. If it's something else, I'll add it. The pump didn't run from the new psu so it should be fried too.
I bought the gtx 970 for 160 used, 2 years ago. Now it is 200+ for a used one. So stupid. Let the crypto crash for cheap gpus :ange:
Which other hardware are you using ?
Just connect the CPU, one RAM in slot A2, graphics card and Power supply

reset the BIOS of the motherboard by jumper

If you are installing two RAM sticks, are these installed correctly in slots DIMM A2 and B2?

ATX12V/EPS 8pin plug connected to the motherboard?

What exactly do you do here: "when I shortcut the atx plug"

Yes it was. My question is, will it just be a burned board or do I have to take more parts into account?
Thete should be short cut protections for other components right?

The setup is
Ryzen 5 1600
first pci: NVIDIA Gtx 970 with water pump
second: Radeon R 240
2x8gb crucial 2133
be quiet pure power 10 500w
ssd's and hdd's

components are installed correct. It did run before the shortcut. 12v 8 Pin connected aswell.

shortcut the atx is connecting the green cable(pin 16) with a black cable (mass)

the psu shortcut was on a xilence xq series 850
it was too old anyway. The shortcut happened when I wanted to connect a water pump to a molex adapter from the psu.

Don't know if the bios reset worked. will double check later.

Hi,
So I exchanged the board and powering up works again. But I get no video signal. I tried both video cards in both slots. The air cooler of the Radeon r7 240 wiggles when powered on but doesn't start to spin. So I guess the cards are damaged too?
Bit the r7 doesn't even have a power connector to the psu. Why would it be damaged?
With the gtx 970 and extra psu power connectors the system is not starting anything. Without extra power connectors it is not showing a video signal but it seems to start.
Could the CPU be damaged and that is why the graphic card is not responding? I will look for a speaker to get error codes from the board. Guess I'm stuck without a
