I've recently upgraded my PC with some new components which are:
Asus Prime B450-Plus
Ryzen 5 2600
Patriot Viper 2x8GB DDR4-3200

All other parts were taken over from my previous build, which never had any problems whatsoever.
(Zotac GTX 750 Ti, Seasonic SSR-450RM power supply, SATA SSD, SATA Bluray drive, ATX case, cables, etc.)

First of all, I've been running the new build for over a week now and it's been completely stable. (also ran Prime95 for an extended period of time)

However, one thing is a bit strange.
After switching on the mains power and subsequently pressing the "power" button, the system seems to power up (LED's and fans start up, no "beep(s)" yet), but after about 4-5 seconds it switches itself off again. Then, after about another 3-4 seconds, the system powers on all by itself again, sounds one single "beep", my screen comes on at the point when the BIOS summary screen is displayed (no error messages shown) and then Windows 10 loads.

Since I haven't built a new PC (MB, CPU, RAM) for some 6 years or so, I am wondering if this power-off/on after initial power-on is something that's considered "normal" nowadays or if I should be concerned about this?

This means that your motherboard is having trouble completely refreshing your system memory. There is one of two reasons this would happen: Faulty ram or faulty motherboard. Consult your ASUS Prime's manual about proper ram configurations (it should be slots A2 and B2, the gray ones), this should sort out your issues in most cases. I would not worry too much, as your computer seems to be able to access your ram after two tries, but if these symptoms worsen I would find a solution asap.

Many thanks for your reply.

Yes, the DIMM's are in slots A2 and B2, as per the illustration in the user manual.

Btw, I didn't specifically mention it in my first post, but as long as the system is only soft-powered off (AC mains not cut) it will come up straight away the next time it is powered on.

Anyway, I will just live with this as it is and hope it won't lead to additional issues at a later time.
