My grandson has a Asus Prime B450M-A II Motherboard bought at the first of the year. He just bought a Ryzen 7 5800X CPU and I'm trying to find out if the BIOS Version 4202 will recognize this CPU or if I will need to Update the BIOS file? I've looked on Asus website and can't seem to find the answer.

First make sure I have the correct motherboard.
It appears you will be fine. The 5800x3d is supported from 3211 up. So your 4202 should detect it just fine.

When you shut down to swap the cpu you should enter bios and set bios defaults F5 and save and exit F10.
Then when fully shut down do a bios reset before booting the new cpu.

After booting with the new cpu you will need to enable XMP/EXPO on the memory ffor correct speed then save and exit.

Thanks for your reply. In the past i've had to update bios files before the motherboard recognized the cpu and didn't want to pull the Ryzen 5 2600X which I gave him and then find the motherboard couldn't recognize the Ryzen 7 5800X cpu and have to put the 2600 back in to update the bios.
