I am thinking on buying the Asus PRIME B550M-A/CSM and pair it with a Ryzen 5600x and my gtx 1080. Am i going to have any issues with overheating (not planing on doing OC)? and also, is this mobo compatible out of the box with the ryzen 5600x or do i need another cpu to update the BIOS to a supported version and then install the 5600x?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the answer, do u think it is gonna be able to boot out of the box with the ryzen 5600x or i need to update the bios first with a 3000 series cpu?
I would not rely on more recent manufacture boards showing up on the shelf yet. Almost certainly you'll need the BIOS updated first...just count on it.

BTW, it might boot up with a Ryzen 2000 or 1000 processor if that's easier to get hold of. B550 doesn't support them but they have worked (for others) at least well enough to POST into the BIOS update utility.
It doesn't have a very strong VRM considering what comes on B550 boards now...about as good as most B450 boards offered. But it does have a heatsink, a definite plus. It should be fine for a 5600X.

I woudn't worry too much on the VRM side of things with a 5600 CPU, perhaps if you upgrade to a 12+ core CPU in the future... You can also find decent B550's for little over than 150$ like the B550 Steel Legend, has decent VRM and pretty good heatsinks. I'm running my Steel Legend with a 12Core CPU, the VRMs barely get warm.
