Hi all, thanks in advance for any help, I'm at a loss and feel like i just wasted 1000$ and itll cost double to get it all figured out.
Decided to build a new PC using the ASUS Prime Z270-a with an i7 7700k. The only part i'm re-using in this build is the case. I installed everything in the case and when plugged in the lights come on indicating there is power to the Mobo. As soon as I turned it on, the fans and everything starts up but the Red CPU LED error indicating light is on solid, and it resets itself after 22 seconds and than stays on continuously but nothing shows up on the screen. the red CPU LED is always on during this. Here are the steps i've already taken:
1. ensured there are no bent pins on the socket multiple times. they are perfect.
2. tried different configs of the RAM in each slot (G. Skill Ripjaws V F4-2400C15D-16GVR). multiple sources have told me it is compatible
3.ensured the power cable to the mobo was connected properly as well the the second power cable for the CPU plug on Mobo.
4. tried a different power supply (an old 850w as well as a new 1000w). Both same results.
5. At this point I figured the CPU was DOA so I went back to the store and exchanged for another one. But I get the same results, CPU LED on. Tried with both cooler on and off
6. Took the mobo out of the case, now i'm running it on anti-static bags with only the PSU, CPU, and RAM attached. At this point, I might just try and get the MOBO exchanged but it sounds like a lot of people here are having problems with the same MOBO. It's so new that there is little to no info anywhere.
With everything I try, it's always only the CPU LED that is on. I'm so bummed out and out of money. I also tired multiple step by step MOBO troubleshooting guides I found on here. always the same result.
