Asus Prime Z270M-Plus not running memory at correct clock speed

Hello dear sirs,

i recently bought an Asus Prime Z270M-Plus Mainboard and installed 4 x 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws V (F4-3600C16D-16GVK).
Those are 4 identical DDR4-3600 PC4-28800 modules and they run at 3600 Mhz.
I also updated my Mainboards firmware with EZ flash to the latest version.
Yet by default the mainboard shows and runs my memory at 2133 Mhz.
The Ai Tweaker tool allows me to overclock CPU, Memory etc. but i don't think that the overclocking tool should be needed to run my memory at the correct clock speed.

Does anyone know why this happens or what i am doing wrong?

Look somewhere else that actually shows the current operating value. For example, AIDA64 or any benchmark test can show you the actual values. You may be looking at the standard boot up value, not the performance values.

it is not advised to use two separate kits of RAM even though specs are identical. It does not mean they are perfectly matching to run at full speed.

I executed "dmidecode --type 17" on my linux system and it showed me Speed: 2133 Mhz and Configured Clock Speed: 2133 Mhz.

So do you think that only because i bought 2 x 2 8 GB Modules it defaults to 2133 Mhz?

No, all DDR4 defaults to DDR4-2133. With a certified motherboard and capable CPU, enable XMP in BIOS and then they can run at full speed. But for high frequency kits like DDR4-3600, if you attempt multiple kits like two 2 x 8GB, they may not match well enough to run at full speed together in the same computer, so if that is the case, you need to try a lower frequency to se if they can work together. This is the risk taken if not a single matching kit of RAM is used for a computer.
