Question Asus Prime Z370-P not 300 series chipset? but 200 series chipset

I have a Asus Prime Z370-P Mobo, and it should have the Intel Z370 chipset, which is the Intel 300 series chipset. However when I go in to my device manager, it says I have the Intel 200 series chipset family. So is this wrong or something got changed?

On my device manager, under the systems device sub header I can see 2 Intel 200 series chipset family:

Intel(R) 200 Series Chipset Family PMC - A2A1
Intel(R) 200 Series Chipset Family SMBUS - A2A3

Unless this is something totally different, but shouldn't I have the Intel 300 Series for having the Asus Prime Z370-P.

And what are these Intel Series Chipset and what do they do.
IS there any difference between the 200 and 300 series?

What CPU are you running? Also please list you build specs.

Yes there is a difference between the 200 and 300 series chipsets. 300 series is intel 8th & 9th Gen Cpu's. 200 series is 6th & 7th Gen CPU's.

My PC Specification are:
i7 8700k
Asus Prime Z370 P
Corsair H45 liquid cooling
GPU GTX 1060
480Gb SSD
16Gb Ram

I would need 300 series for the 8th Gen CPU to work, but my device manager say I have a 200 series series chipset family. So is the chipset a software or a hardware?
 
Overall, most of the changes to the Z370 chipset are relatively minor. Obviously the support for the new Coffee Lake-S CPUs is a very big deal, but the odd thing is that for whatever reason Intel decided not to change the physical socket from LGA-1151. This means that you can install a Coffee Lake-S CPU into a Z270 motherboard without the need of a hammer and everything will appear to be correct - only the system will never actually be able to POST or operate correctly.

Besides support for Coffee Lake-S CPUs, the only major changes made are the native support for USB 3.1 and support for PCIe RAID. This may be disappointing for those that were hoping for some cool new technology.
