I am having trouble with a new preassembled workstation with ASUS Prime Z690-P motherboard, 13th gen Intel Core i9-13900K, Arctic liquid CPU cooler, GeForce RTX 4080. It runs smooth as silk otherwise, but if I have to restart the computer, it gives me a false overheating error at 89 degrees CPU temp and shuts down. If I get past that, via BIOS menu or otherwise, Armoury Crate shows CPU temperature at around 45 degrees. There is no overheating problem during heavy usage, only during startup, so it would seem a BIOS / software-related error. Is there anything I can do about this myself or do I have to send this in for weeks of repair? I could turn off CPU temp monitor in BIOS but that would disable any protection in case I ran into an actual overheating issue.

The other possibility, I guess, is that it does actually heat from room temperature to 90 degrees during startup in a few second's time, although that seems very unusual. If that is the case, what could possibly cause that, as there is no overheating and normal temperatures once I get past the startup? The computer has been in use for about three weeks, the problem showed up right during first restart.

After first setting the temp limit at 95 degrees and then turning off the CPU temperature monitor altogether, the computer shuts down even earlier during the startup, not getting to BIOS settings. I'll let it "cool down" and try again.

One hour of unsuccessful startups due to instant shutdowns due to false overheating during startup, maybe 15 tries, then suddenly a completely normal startup, CPU at 39 degrees. Definitely not caused by actual high temperature. Nothing in the cooling system is even warm to touch. What the heck?
