So I bought a Skytech Shiva 2 a year or 2 ago and I just tried to do a clean windows install and it fudged the motherboard drivers. I went to the asus site and manually DLed and installed each of them and it still is telling me the PCI express, SM bus drivers, and an unknown device has out of date drivers. Everything is working great but I hate loose ends. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I am a novice so some of these things i am still learning
Asus Prime Z690-p; Wifi motherboard
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600K 3.70 GHz
32gb ram
ASUS Nvidia rtx 3060ti

where i DLed the drivers that dont seem to work.

Windows 10 and it came pre-installed
difficult to tell if this system would've come with some OEM Windows installation package or a clean MS version.
i might try a clean install using the Media Creation tool provided directly from Microsoft.

where i DLed the drivers that dont seem to work...
i guess you did download the Win10 version(s) and not those specific to Win11?

thanks i will try that!

Yes i DLed the windows 10 versions. Most of them worked ie; the display, audio, and wifi drivers just not the SM bus and the other (empty) PCI express slots

When drivers are not installed automatically by Windows or after applying mobo driver updates, I open Device Manager, double click on the item with no driver marked with a yellow "!" mark, select the Details tab, set Property to Hardware IDs and make a note of the text string starting PCI\VEN.

Copy this string into a web browser and search for drivers compatible with your OS version. I frequently find drivers on the Dell and Lenovo web sites can be used to fix problems on other manufacturers' motherboards, e.g. Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.

It's a good idea to create a System Restore Point before applying unknown drivers that may or may not work. I avoid web sites prompting me to download automatic driver update programs, because they may come with unwanted bloatware or worse.

On older systems, it's worth trying Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 drivers, if there are no specific drivers for Windows 10 or 11.
