Why does Asus Probe report a 2900rpm speed on my cpu fan. Just changed from a CoolMaster. Idle temps are down from 53C to 45C. New Volcano 5 is supposed to spin at 4500rpm!

How many amp is your new fan, maybe you have to connect it directly to the powersupply instead of plugging it in one of the onboard fanheaders.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground 😱 .

The fan is rated at 0.17 amps. Is there a special connector to hook up directly to power supply. Will I still be able to monitor fan once I hook up this way?

if its not hooked up to the motherboard...then it probably wont be monitored

As long as you connect the RPM monitor wire (often yellow or blue) on the mobo you can monitor the fan with PCProbe.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground 😱 .
