Recently, my Asus has been lagging behind and has had terrible performance issues. Since I do not have the money to get another laptop, I was wondering if there were any available upgrades for my laptop.

I mainly use this laptop for games (RPGs such as Skyrim) and oftentimes these games are demanding on my laptop. Currently I have 6.00 GB of RAM (I know) and I was wondering if I could upgrade to 8 GB, or even 16 GB. Other upgrades I am looking for are graphic cards (Currently using Intel HD Graphics 4000) and any other game improving upgrade.

My motherboard is a AsusTek Q500a
CPU is a Intel Core I5 3230M
OS is Windows 8.1

Ram and the hdd is normally the only thing most laptops allow to upgrade. The cpu and gpu are up gradable but not on this laptop I think. This is very rare and require good cooling to keep the laptop running. If your laptop can upgrade the ram you should. The hdd will only improve loading times and not the fps. I am afraid you need a new laptop to be able to get smooth framerates for the games you play as skyrim is very cpu intensive. Or you have to lower the settings of the game.
At First you cannot upgrade GPU in this Laptop in a few Very High end models this is possible but they cost more than desktop gaming PC.
Intel HD 4000 is iGPU inside CPU, and even if you change to i7 you will get this same iGPU.
Simple no real upgrades for your laptop.

So your telling me I can't even get a RAM or Graphic Card upgrade? I know for a fact I can get a RAM upgrade, and graphic cards aren't particularly limited to the motherboard. I'm positive this computer allows for upgrades, they wouldn't restrict it so it is not.
