Hey guys, I'm pretty solid on purchasing the ASUS 280X, but recently my local computer store put an ASUS 280X 'V2' on their shelf for $5 more than the original model. What exactly is this V2? Should I buy this one rather than the original?

nah, false alarm... looks like that one's got just a new version of the directCopper cooler on it, 3 slotter versus a 2 slot one...
the v2 has an updated tahiti chip... it will perform pretty much identically to the original 280x... just use a little less power and run a little bit cooler. Because the performance is identical AMD decided not to release a new card with the slightly updated chip.

Interesting article! I should probably wait until his revision version is out, huh?

Here's the link to the v2 that I was mentioning (if that's what you were asking for): https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/R9280XDC2T3GD5V2/#overview

Is that the one Kari just mentioned?

probably has nothing to do with the chip revision/update :/
