Asus r9 390x directcu3 8gb gddr5 power consumption

i bought r9 390x from asus strix directcu3.I found tht the card with the whole system draws about 342 watts from the wall, so why do i need a 750 watt psu?I can get a 450 watt and run it?or am i wrong?Can anyone explain wat power it draws from the psu alone , card+whole system from psu and also card alone from the wall and card+system from the wall.

A high quality 550-600w psu would work. Here is some info on the actual power requirements for the card:
