i would advise you if your looking for a improvement look at a 9800 pro on ebay for 50$

that or a new GPU

Also, to point out LCD moniters are not the best for gameing. CRT offer better picture qualitly and react faster than LCDs.

Try a Radeon X800 XL/XT or GeForce 6800 GT/GS, or higher, video card.

You'll be looking at around four times the frame rate then. 8)

PS: Change thread title to just simply "Radeon 9600 XT slow"

A change in refresh rate can hurt, or help, performance.

A change in res upwards, will hurt performance.

Turning V-Sync on may hurt 'engine cycles per second' performance.

Turn on Catalyst AI, Update your mainboard / chipset drivers, Update your video card drivers, Compare timings (not clock speed) on video card memory, etc

OH dont even try it.Thats exgageration if that is how you spell it.But anyway that does sound strange seeing how the XT is the best 9600 you can buy maybe it is overheated.otherwise it might be best to upgrade the card like it was said before. But i would say to get somthing newer if you can.

In what way? Does playing it at 85hz hurt performance while 60hz helps performance? I always instruct the games to play at the desktops default refresh rate - 60hz gives me headaches after half an hour!! As you guessed I'm still using old fashioned CRT technology!

Are your two Radeon 9600 XT cards exactly the same ?

- Video RAM, BIOS version, Timings, Clock Speed, etc

Come to think of it, we don't even know if the two cards are really the same, only the CPU, MOBO (maybe, rev #) and RAM (maybe, timings, etc).

Nor do we know drivers in use for chipset and video card, or what settings they are both using for WoW. (There are a hell of a lot more than just res and colour depth).
