ASUS Rampage Formula 1 southbridge overheating!

Hello guys i have an old ASUS Rampage Formula 1 MOBO. Recently when i used the PC for a while i restarted it for no reason. When it posted i heard one beep and the msg "Suthbridge overheat detected." Press F1 to continue. When i touched the sotuhbridge part(circled in RED in the image HERE ) it was very hot, 80 degrees celsius or more. Do you guys have any idea why this might happen? Thanks in advance!

Aside from the age of the board, not really.

Take the heatsink off of the PCH and see if the thermal pad/compound is still good. Replace if necessary.

If it is a more serious problem, like a voltage leak to ground through the chip, not much you can do unfortunately. If for whatever reason it just runs hot now, you can always aggressively cool it with a larger heatsink and/or fan.
