Hi guys,

I just upgraded to a x99 Asus Rampage V extreme along with a 980 Ti and I am confused; if the extreme v doesn't have onboard graphics, how will I be able to see a display once DDU sweeps out the old drivers and the PC restarts? Seems like a paradox. How will I be able to see to install the GeForce driver package once windows restarts? I don't think I'm understanding something here, any help you guys can give in clearing up my confusion would be greatly appreciated.

thanks guys!

Because windows will install a generic display driver that will work with what you have.

The idea is that same as a clean install of windows if you think about it. An a clean install of windows you also do not have the drivers of your said card. But somehow you are still able to see your desktop. This is because of the generic display driver windows applies.

Which than after you can install the correct driver for you GPU via download of the vendors website or even windows update finds that correct driver for you to install. I just usually download from the venders website

if Sesame Street taught me nothing, it taught me to be thorough. HAHAHA....

You are welcome. This is why this community exists. :)

also another thing that you can do, since you have a Nvidia, after you download the drivers and run the exe, they have a check box in the setup that you can tell it to do a clean install of the drivers for you. Than all you have to do is sit back and relax till the new drivers are installed.

I do this all the time on my system with every Nvidia driver update they release and it has never let me down.

Cheers :)
